Wait, its the end of August?! That’s crazy!
Well, here we are. I work fulltime as a para pro at a private school here in Michigan, and today was our first day back to school. Now I’ll be honest, I didn’t reach my writing goal this summer — not even close! But I think that’s okay. I spent the summer working as a coach for a day camp, learned a lot, and had a lot of fun doing it! Because I cant push it enough, I have three other books I have self-published. Those books have recently been receiving the love that I believe they deserve. I couldn’t be more grateful for that. I think putting writing aside a little bit — not entirely but getting the brain break I need and writing when I can — has helped those books shine! I cant ignore my other three babies!
My current work in progress is the sequel to “It Had to Be You,” which will be turning two years old already in November. What I haven’t written down yet, I daydream about constantly. Half of the book is already written in a notes app. I am often asked on Booktok what my process is for starting a novel, and half of it is a stream of consciousness in a Google Doc that I later have to untangle into a bit of an outline. I also love to go on Pinterest and save pictures to a board as inspiration, whether its the clothes that the characters might wear, what their house looks like, or the activities they enjoy. I actually have shared some of the pictures for the sequel on my Tiktok and Instagram, if you’re interested in seeing those!
The beginning of the school year is like New Years Day. I am making resolutions and new goals that I will try to keep up with. School gets hectic, and its defintely tiring, but at the same time, a new beginning gives me energy. Be on the look out for more book news very soon!
Also, I love fall! As I am writing this, the crisp evening air is floating in from the open windows, and I am so ready for September. Its probably my favorite month, not just because of my birthday (which I am actually not exactly looking forward to — 28 :/) but it has some of the best weather Michigan has to offer. We are a transition season loving state.
If I reach my writing goal by next month, I think I’ll release the book title. Don’t hold me to that too hard, but at the same time, I’m ready to tell you now!
Thank you for sticking around. ❤ Tara
